Today, we finally boarded the Australis ship, embarking on what promises to be an exhilarating three-night journey from Ushuaia, Argentina, to Punta Arenas, Chile. The anticipation of cruising through the wilds of Patagonia fills us with excitement.

The ship itself was luxurious, though in a different way from the typical deluxe cruise liners. It had a refined charm suited to the rugged beauty of this remote region. Our cabin was spacious, with a large window that offered spectacular views of Patagonia’s untamed wilderness as we sailed through its fjords and islands. Waking up each morning with the sunrise illuminating wild islands or casting a golden glow over the sea was truly magical. The cuisine aboard was equally impressive—each meal a gastronomic delight that elevated the experience even further.

Today, we completed the boarding process and took time to settle in. As we relaxed, the ship began its journey towards our first and most anticipated destination: Cape Horn, the iconic southernmost tip of South America. This legendary point is the main highlight of our entire Patagonian adventure. However, the weather is unpredictable in these parts, and we were told that reaching and safely anchoring at Cape Horn depends on the conditions tomorrow. We can only hope for the best.
