We started our day with a buffet breakfast. Strangely enough, I opted for a European-style breakfast with croissants, eggs, sausages, and salad, while my husband, a Luxembourger who was previously not keen on Japanese breakfasts, chose a bowl of rice, pickles, umeboshi (salted plum), eggs, grilled fish, and salad. What a surprise! He used to avoid salted plums, but now not only  he eats them, he chooses them even when other options are available! The Japanese breakfasts we've enjoyed so far must have been so delicious that they've changed his preferences, including for umeboshi.

After breakfast, we headed to the beautiful Takachiho Gorge. With the sunshine and autumn leaves, it was a stunning promenade.

Next, we visited Kunimigaoka. It's famous for its sea of clouds at this time of year, but you have to arrive very early in the morning to see it. Even without the sea of clouds, the view was excellent.
