Discovering Historic Treasures and Scenic Vistas

Today, we are heading to Unzen.

Our first stop was Ukiha Inari Jinja. With its 90 torii gates stretching from the foothills to the shrine, it presented a spectacular view.

Next, with a slight detour, we visited the Akizuki Castle Ruins, a prefectural historic site. The site was even more impressive than expected, featuring a stunning black old gate. Although the autumn leaves hadn’t turned red as we had imagined, the setting was still beautiful and serene.

Towards the end of the day, we arrived at Chijiwa Observatory. From here, we could take in the breathtaking scenery, which included views of Tachibana Bay, Chijiwa Beach, and Mt. Unzen Fugen. To top off this experience, we were treated to a beautiful sunset.
